Monster is a creature that will hatch in pairs during the fight with Melbu Frahma in his final form.

Story

After scattering several eggs from within his body, two will hatch into Monsters and Melbu will compact his body into a defensive mode and cast a spell with the same effect as the Dragon Block Staff. Melbu will not attack and will rely on the Monsters to do the fighting for him. A Monster can use three attacks.

The first being a swooping claw swipe that does damage.

Their second attack is shooting miniature versions of themselves on their target. After landing, the mini-monsters crawl around for a few seconds before self-destructing and causing moderate damage.

When the first Monster is defeated, it utilizes its ultimate attack... It possesses its killer's body and deconstructs it, causing that member of the party to be unable to continue combat.

Monster as an ally

Strangely, when the second Monster is near death it will sink into a black portal and use its technique: Impersonating. The portal moves underneath a random party member and the Monster's claws drag them into the portal and the Monster comes out. It effectively replaces the party member in all ways. Melbu will return to his normal form and Dragoons will have full power again.

The Monster has no health, magic, or spirit and has two options when its turn comes around, Attack and Special. After three or four rounds, the Monster will sink back into the portal, bring the original party member back out, and return by Melbu's side and will promptly die. Stranger still, the replaced party member is completely unharmed.

Abilities

  • Attack: The Monster will fly up to Melbu Frahma's face and execute a multiple claw attack.
  • Special: The Monster will perform an odd dance and use a powerful healing spell on the party.
