Urobolus (ウロボス, Urobosu, "Uroboros"), or the Cave Guardian, is a giant snake that acts as the boss of the Limestone Cave. The manner of its death foreshadows events far ahead in the story. It drops a Wargod's Amulet, which adds 20 to the chance to hit with physical and magical attacks (A-HIT and M-HIT).
As the lady in Seles tells it, the Urobolus is indirectly a part of the Serdian War, as reinforcements from Castle Indels fail to get through to Seles, fended off by this guardian creature at the Limestone Cave. Their fight against it may well bring the serpent closer to death, making it easier for Dart and friends to finish it off.
Before deciding whether to sell the Wargod's Amulet, consider its usefulness in fighting the Unique Monsters, the fact that there is a second one available at the Marshlands, and the fact that there are none others available. Although there is the Sallet for males and Long Bow for Shana, they each add only 10 to A-HIT, do not increase M-HIT at all, and would reach +30 A-HIT together with the Amulet.

Chapter 1: The Serdian War[]
Escape from Hellena[]
When the player first encounters the creature, it emerges out of the rock and hisses at the heroes. Lavitz shouts that it is the "Guardian of the Cave" and combat commences.
After Urobolus is defeated, a cutscene shows that the snake is not truly slain, as it whips its head up and tries to kill Shana. She then uses her unknown abilities to shatter the creature, giving the first hints that within her is some unknown power.
During Battle[]
Urobolus is an Earth monster. During the fight it will periodically switch to a higher vantage point and use poisonous attacks.
- Bite: Urobolus attacks by lunging up and attacking the party member from above.
- Toxic Vomit: Urobolus spits a shot of venom at an ally which may cause poison.
- Acid Mist: Urobolus shakes its head releasing poison from its frills, covering the team. It has the chance to cause poison.
When Urobolus moves up the the high level, the only person who can hit the snake regularly is Shana as she is the only one with a ranged weapon. Dart and Lavitz must use items or use Guard during this period. After a few turns, it will come back down to the ground.
